We had an evening filled with speeches from candidates who want to change South Carolina.  (Please visit the Candidates page for more information.)
 
SC State Senate District 25
Primary choices:
 
Greg Anderson, an attorney from Edgefield, spoke passionately about his top priorities, education, health care access, job growth, and combating gang activity are his top priorities.  His website is up and running -- check it out for more on Greg’s vision.
 
Travis Johnson, from Graniteville, had few moments to speak about his plans.  He stated he will work for a high quality public school system and to get jobs back to our area.  He also wants to see people have the ability to get access to the internet.
 
 
SC State House District 84
 
Russell Curry, a small business owner with a wife and 2 young children, said that there are many things that need to change.  He said laid out his plans for fairer tax code, health care, public education (such as his "Parent Accountability Act”and “Character Education.”   Find out more about his campaign at his website.
 
SC State House District 83
 
Judy Hamilton, from North Augusta, is a Medical Social Worker (short bio here).   With passionate enthusiasm, she told us that she would like reform healthcare in South Carolina and advocate for more rights/programs for senior citizens.  Because she is an adjunct college professor, she related to us what she feels needs to change in our public educational system. She spoke of the need for stricter laws for individuals guilty of identity theft.
 
 
US Second Congressional District
Primary choices
 
A representative came to speak about Rob Miller, a Marine captain who served two tours in Iraq,  and why he is running against Rep Joe Wilson.  Rob’s vision is to fight for safe neighborhoods and schools, good roads and bridges, decent health care, and most importantly, new jobs geared to the high-paying opportunities of the global economy.   His website has all the issues plainly laid out - here is a link.
 
Blaine Lotz, endorsed by Gov Mark Warner, had a 39-year career in USAF and Defense Department Intelligence.  He was unable to attend our meeting -- BUT his representative is planning to be here for our next meeting on May 29th at 7 pm - see Events page for details  See his website for more info.
 
 
US Third Congressional District
 
Jane Dyer, another USAF veteran, was also unable to attend the meeting BUT she is planning on attending our next meeting May 29th.  She has a lot to talk about - and great issues.  Check out her website!
