Dyer, Hamilton, and Obama Campaigns
Rally the Party

Last Saturday, August 9th, we had a special volunteer meeting which had a great turnout, and tonight's meeting opened with more information for our volunteers.

The time is NOW to help our candidates and our local headquarters.

A field operator from the Obama campaign, Alec Strickling, had a few words to say.  He told us that more people need to be registered.  Grant Price, a loyal Democrat,  announced he will lead the effort to hold registration drives.  He asked that those interested in helping should send an email to info@aikencountydemocrats.org.  (Please include Grant's name in the email.)  The last day to register to be able to vote in November, is Oct 4th.  (See "Welcome" page, scroll to bottom for more info.)

Judy Hamilton, our candidate for the State House District #83, came to tell us that her campaign is going well.  Many people have told her that it is wonderful to be able to vote for a Democrat -- her district hasn't had a Democrat on the ballot for 20 years!  She spoke on what she wants to do.

She wants to make sure the district is fully and fairly represented.  As a Medical Social Worker / Adj Professor, she also advocates affordable, accessible healthcare for all SC residents. She will work to improve Public School Education through fiscal and academic accountability, improve family values and integrity, and broaden our tax base with new industry and better job opportunities.

Many more people are needed to help her; so if you live in North Augusta, send her an email HamiltonForHouse@yahoo.com or call 803-279-1449 and let her know!

Jane Dyer, the US House 3rd District candidate, was next to speak.  She said that as she travels around our district, she finds that the economic situation is dire for many.  Lack of good jobs and healthcare, rising food and gas prices, are all straining people's budgets.  The Republican control of our government have helped the rich by favoring them with tax cuts, subsidies, and loopholes while leaving the middle-to-low income earners to strain their budgets even more.  Jane spoke of her commitment to represent ALL of her constituents.

She spoke of working toward a real energy policy that includes every possible alternative energy source -- and try to bring companies to SC to build  those alternatives.

Then Jane brought up how our troops/veterans need the respect that the Republicans haven't given them.  Our current representative has voted against the troops and veterans throughout the past term. (See "Voting Records" page.)  Jane spoke of working with congress to get our troops home.  From her past as an Air Force pilot, and being married to  a highly decorated Vietnam War pilot, she said she has a commitment to our current men and women serving our country and the care of our veterans.
